Algedonic

Amazon Review
Bestselling poet r.h. Sin, author of the Whiskey, Words, & a Shovel series, presents a poetry collection that illuminates the transformative power of emotional pain.

Algedonic is an aesthetic outlook on pain and pleasure. Complex emotions simplified into poetic interludes as only r.h. Sin can express. With his trademark of giving simplicity to some of the hardest of emotions, Sin reminds us all that there are often two sides to an emotional story and sometimes the pain transforms into something beautiful, something less problematic and maybe something that reignites a feeling of pleasure.

Miss J's Review
Initially, the pages of this book are what caught my attenion:  half of the pages are black, the other half are white. I found such a visual distrinction quite intruiging. The black half of the book, which happens to be the first half, contains poems about chaos and pain while the white half of the book contains poetry about pealsure and peace.

Because this is the first poetry that I have read by r.h. Sin, I didn't know anything about him. At first, I actually though that he was a woman, as his poetry often speaks of empowering the women in his life. However, I was pleased to find that he is indeed a man who is helping to spread this message of respect and empowerment.

Overall, I am so glad that I purchased this book for our classroom, and I cannot wait to bring in more titles by r.h. Sin.
