Miss J's Review
The first thing to be noted about this graphic novel:  the art is intricate and beautiful. Often times, I find myself whipping through graphic novels so quickly that I never really take the time to relish the art; however, my experience with this volume was so different. I found myself slowing down and enjoying the art just as much as the dialogue on the page. I feel like the artists really went above and beyond for this novel.

As for the story, I loved it. The characters feel complex and real, and I once again found myself learning so much about another culture due to Kamala's Indian heritage. I feel like the graphic novel--although exciting and action-packed--taught me so much about what it's like to be in a first generation American caught between two cultures. As a result, I can see what this made the Abe's list for the year.

Overall, I am pumped to continue watching Kamala find who she is and what she is meant to do in the world. I am so along for the ride.
